Dr. Zaher Alwafai

Profile

Dr. Zaher Alwafai has been serving as the Deputy Director of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Greifswald University Hospital in Germany. Before his current role, he held positions as a Consultant and Specialist in the same department, with a particular focus on Gynecological Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Zaher Alwafai commenced his medical career as a Resident Doctor at King Abdulla University Hospital in Jordan and later completed his residency training in Germany.

He holds a German board (Facharzt) of Gynecology and Obstetrics, awarded by the Medical Association of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Dr Zaher Alwafai has a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (M.B. B.Ch.) from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. In addition to his core qualifications, he has pursued various certifications and qualifications to enhance his expertise. Notably, he holds certification in Minimally Invasive Surgery accredited by the Association of Gynecological Endoscopy, Germany, in 2023. Furthermore, he is a Certified Robotic Console Surgeon, having completed Intuitive’s Technology Training Program in Oxford, UK, also in 2023. Since 2019, Dr Zaher Alwafai has obtained certification as a senior breast surgeon awarded by the OnkoZert Cancer Society in Germany.

Dr. Zaher Alwafai actively engages in teaching and academic activities. Since October 2019, he has been a member of the examination board for the final medical licensing exam in Germany. Additionally, he serves as a lecturer in Gynecology and Obstetrics. Thereby contributing to the education of medical students at Greifswald University since April 2018.
