Prof. Dr. Elvira Bratila is an obstetrics-gynecology primary doctor and the Clinic Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinical Hospital “Prof. Dr. Panait Sarbu.” She is also a founding member of the East European Endometriosis and Fertility Society and the President of the Romanian Society of Urogynecology.
Prof. Dr. Bratila’s expertise includes gynecological and obstetrical ultrasonography, gynecological laparoscopy, colposcopy, infertility and human reproduction, gynecological oncology, and maternal-fetal medicine. She is skilled in minimally invasive surgery, including vaginal, laparoscopic, robotic surgery, urogynecology, and gynecological oncology.
Prof. Dr. Bratila has completed more than 56 national and international courses in minimally invasive surgery, urogynecology, and gynecological oncology, which has allowed her to approach all benign and malignant gynecological pathology through minimally invasive procedures. She is among the “pioneers” of the introduction of robotic surgery in Romania, implementing state-of-the-art techniques and approaches in the treatment of some pathologies, which until recently were reserved for classical or laparoscopic techniques.
Prof. Dr. Bratila is the President of the Romanian Society of Urogynecology and has been involved in the organization of 11 editions of the National Congress of Urogynecology. She has over 10 years of experience in the field of urogynecology and uses the latest therapeutic procedures in the treatment of urinary incontinence and uterovaginal prolapse.
As a founding member of the East European Endometriosis and Fertility Society, Prof. Dr. Bratila initiated a fundamental study program on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of endometriosis, as well as research on the field of infertility and improving the prognosis of pregnancy and newborns. She emphasizes the role of EESEA in facilitating the exchange of ideas and information between specialists in the field.
Prof. Dr. Bratila is a member of numerous international medical societies, such as “The International Society of Ultrasonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG),” “The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy (AAGL),” and “The European Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ESGO).” She has founded and published over 147 medical articles and over 300 communications appearing in the volume of national and international scientific events.
Prof. Dr. Bratila is the author and co-author of 13 books and book chapters in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. She has contributed to research projects as a director of the project or member of the research team, which was reflected in the results obtained in the research of some important pathologies in both obstetrics and gynecology.
Prof. Dr. Bratila is also involved in the training and education of young doctors. She has over 10 years of activity as an academic staff at the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy and became the coordinator of doctoral studies following the defense of her habilitation thesis, “Diagnostic and treatment algorithm in pelvic static disorders” in 2016.
