Dr Amitabha Majumdar, a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist, possesses super-specialized training, extensive research, and profound expertise in the field. Furthermore, he brings a wealth of experience to his role. In addition to his dynamic clinical practice, Dr Majumdar has contributed significantly to the field through extensive publications. Currently, he is a dedicated educator at MBRU, imparting his knowledge to aspiring professionals. Notably, Dr. Amitabha Majumdar is an integral member of the urogynecology fellowship committee in the UAE. Dr Amitabha Majumdar is a distinguished consultant obstetrician and gynecologist, bringing a wealth of experience to his role at Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi since March 2015. Currently, he serves as the lead clinician for Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Surgery. Also, Dr. Majumdar has been instrumental in establishing the one-stop urogynaecology and pelvic floor disorder clinic within the hospital.
His expertise extends to successfully implementing major diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including significant surgeries, for women dealing with incontinence, prolapse (both primary and recurrent), and vault suspension. Dr. Majumdar has demonstrated his leadership skills by initiating comprehensive changes. Especially in developing a business case and procuring new urodynamic equipment, an anorectal manometry machine, and an endoanal ultrasound probe. He played an important role in recruiting and training new nursing staff, developing protocol and SOP, collaborating with infection control, and securing appropriate tariffs for procedures.
Before his tenure in Abu Dhabi, Dr Amitabha served as a consultant obstetrician and Gynecologist with a particular interest in Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Surgery, University Hospital of South Manchester, UK.
