Professor Philippe Descamps is a highly respected international expert in obstetrics and gynaecology. He has served as Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at CHU d’Angers since 1999 and leads EndoRef Pays de la Loire, a regional reference center dedicated to complex endometriosis. His clinical expertise spans advanced gynaecological surgery, management of pelvic floor disorders, reproductive medicine, fertility care, endometriosis, obstetric care, and gynaecologic oncology.
Prof. Descamps has contributed extensively to academic research with over 340 peer-reviewed publications, focusing on endometriosis, fertility, gynecologic oncology, and minimally invasive surgery. Nationally, he serves as President of the International Relations Committee of CNGOF and previously as Vice-President of SCGP. Internationally, he represents France on the FIGO Council. He also contributes to committees focused on surgical innovation and strategic planning.
Moreover, Professor Philippe Descamps takes an active role in medical training and the publication industry, serving as editor-in-chief of “La Lettre du Gynécologue” and contributing to the CNGOF review “Brèves de Collège.” He trains the next generation of clinicians through simulation and advanced surgical programs while promoting evidence-based, multidisciplinary care.
