Prof. Hassan Shehata is a renowned professor of obstetrics and gynaecologyand a leading consultant obstetrician and maternal medicine subspecialist. He directs the tertiary maternal medicine and recurrent miscarriage services at Epsom and St. Helier Hospitals in the UK. Having worked with high-risk pregnancies and complicated maternal health problems for decades, Prof. Shehata is also globally recognized as a specialist in his field.
Prof. Hassan Shehata has been instrumental in the development of maternal healthcare systems. He serves as the Clinical Lead for the South-West London Maternal Medicine Network, where he has also been instrumental in establishing clinical pathways and safe referral systems. His mission is to ensure equitable care for women with pre-, ante-, and post-natal complex medical conditions. Furthermore, he is committed to eliminating disparities in care regarding ethnicity, religion, education, or location.
Through his professional work, Prof. Shehata has made a significant impact on training and education in maternal medicine. Moreover, he was a member of the team that produced the first Maternal Medicine Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM). Furthermore, his involvement extends to several other pivotal contributions in the field. Additionally, Prof. Hassan Shehata has actively participated in early workforce task forces. His leadership extended internationally, particularly during his tenure as the Gulf ambassador and MENA regional representative on the Council of the RCOG (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists).

His research focuses on recurrent miscarriages, obesity, diabetes, renal disease, and obstetric cholestasis. Moreover, it addresses some of the most pressing challenges in maternal health today.
